WHITE SUGAR (TABLE SUGAR) Pure sucrose naturally found in many fruits and vegetables. In nature, it can be found in sugar cane. To make white sugar, sulfur dioxide is added to cane juice before it gets evaporated to produce the white sugar. Then phosphoric acid, calcium hydroxide or carbon dioxide is added to absorb impurities. This juice is then filtered through filters many times to remove the chemicals and impurities of raw sugar. Then evaporated to prod...uce pure sucrose without any chemicals or impurities.
Both sugars have no nutritional value and neither one is “healthy for you”.
BROWN SUGAR Brown sugar is simply refined white sugar with a molasses syrup mixed in, then dried again.
HONEY. Both honey and sugar have glucose and fructose but the honey does not go through processing. Honey has antioxidant and antimicrobial activity. You can put honey on cuts to keep them from becoming infected. Honey is more natural than raw sugar and is healthier. Honey has a healthier Glycemic Index (GI) which measures the negative impact of a given food on the blood-glucose level. The lower the GI rating, the slower the absorption and infusion of sugars into the bloodstream and hence a more gradual and healthier digestion process (The Glycemic Index).
